The Bible puts the human struggle with God into perspective. In it we read that we live as creatures in God's creation, and that God has all people engaged in the search for him. It says God has made all people, "that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist" (Acts 17.27-28).
The Bible also tells us that though we seek for God, it is not up to us to come up with the truth of God. In fact, we cannot. Rather, God must reveal himself to us, and this he does. The Bible says that God speaks to all people in three ways:
1. Through creation God has given all people the knowledge of God the creator,
2. In people's hearts he has placed the awareness of the God of justice, and
3. The gospel, which is the good news of God, announces that through Jesus Christ God has provided the way for us to know him as God the saviour.
Through all that God says to us, he is calling us to respond to him so that we can live in a relationship with him. There is nothing more important than this. God is the source of life and to be separated from him is death. This is what has happened to humanity. We have become separated from God. But, God has not left us to die. He is calling all people to enter a living relationship with him, and he is speaking in such a way that all people can be convinced of the truth.
